Sarah Khatcherian received her bachelor's and master's degrees in Voice Performance from Westminster Choir College (Rider University), where she studied under Dalton Baldwin, Martin N\'eron, and JJ Penna, while cultivating an affinity for languages, poetry, and the art of recital.
A soprano, Khatcherian's broad repertoire ranges from new works to lost masterpieces, which she has performed in recitals noted for their imaginative staging and selections. Choral performances include appearances with the New York Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Westminster Opera Theatre and Symphonic Choir, and the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra. She has performed as soloist with the Trenton Symphony Orchestra in Beethoven's Fantasie and with the Westminster Symphonic Choir in Rossini's Messe Solennelle. Her international appearances include recitals throughout France and Germany. In addition to her work as a teacher, Khatcherian has also served as a guest speaker and singer for various fundraising and cultural events. She specially enjoys performing for cultural venues, linking her programming to temporary exhibits, lectures, or other events.
Her most current recital engagements involved elements of French chanson and German cabaret, along with songs of her favorite dance, the tango. She has been recognized with numerous awards for performance and teaching, most recently the 2008 Young Leader Award from the National Association of Teachers of Singing. Khatcherian spent last year as a Fulbright scholar in Hannover, Germany, where she performed in recitals, furthered her study of the German Lied, and conducted vocal pedagogy research. Sarah is currently pursuing her DMA in Voice Performance at The Ohio State University.
