DaYU CLASSES

INTRODUCTION TO AUTHENTIC ARGENTINE TANGO
the way it is danced in Milongas everywhere

SATURDAYS 7pm, BEGINNERS, Pomerene 213,
SATURDAYS 8pm, INTERMEDIATE, Pomerene 213.

CLASSES AIM IS TO BRING STUDENTS AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE TO THE DANCE FLOOR
and to emphasize the posture and contact rather than steps:

BEGINNERS
Argentine Tango is a walking dance. You will learn to connect to a partner while walking, lead and follow weight changes, circular side steps (as well as regular ones!), pivots, ochos, crusada, simple turns -- and to top it off, you will dance to the beat! Pre-requisites: none.
BEGINNERS MILONGUERO style
In Milonguero (in Gringo: "close embrace") style, there is less space (literally) for error, so you will learn all the above-mentioned elements (walking, weight changes, side steps, ochos, crusada, and gyros) with the adjustments necessary for close embrace. Pre-requisites: none.

INTERMEDIATE
Students will definitely learn some new movements (boleos, sacadas, ganchos, planeos, calecitas, volgadas...) to incorporate into their dance, but the focus will be on improving quality of movement. You will also learn how to seamlessly connect open and close embrace to be able to move fluidly between the two. Pre-requisites: at least a few classes of beginners Argentine Tango.
